Dental Services

The Dental Section, which is the largest and most requested service of our clinics, consists of nearly 70 dental chairs divided into three main sections: Hygiene for cleanings, Restorative for fillings and Surgery for pulling teeth. The Dental Section also has an x-ray area for those patients who require full or partial mouth x-rays. The Dental Section is staffed by over 100 volunteer licensed dental professionals each day, including oral surgeons, general dentists, dental hygienists and dental assistants.

The Vision Section of our clinics provides eye health checks, vision exams and prescription eyeglasses made on site, enabling patients to walk away with new glasses in hand. Staffed by volunteer licensed optometrists, ophthalmologists, opticians and other vision professionals, the Vision Section consists of up to ten vision exam lanes and a vision lab that creates up to 350 pairs of glasses per day.

Medical Services

The Medical Section, staffed by volunteer licensed physicians, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals, provides physical screenings and general exams. Depending on availability, additional services including chiropractic and acupuncture, hearing screenings, mammography, and HIV screenings may also be offered. All patients who receive services at our clinics are first evaluated in Patient Triage where a medical history is taken, followed by documenting blood pressure and blood sugar levels to ensure they are in proper health to receive a dental or vision service. Patient Triage volunteers are licensed RNs, EMTs, LVNs and LPNs.

General Volunteers

In addition to the hundreds of healthcare professionals who volunteer each clinic day, general volunteers (no healthcare background necessary) are needed to assist with the flow of the clinic. General volunteers help with clinic set up and tear down, checking volunteers in and out, registering patients, escorting patients to and from different clinic sections, patient line management, interpreting for non-English speaking patients and various other clinic roles.
